If ever there was a time for the Celtic faithful to bring energy to the TD Garden, it would be at 8:30pm tonight.
This is as good as a Game 7 for Boston.
After being dominated in Game 1, the Celtics cannot afford to go down 2-0 heading to Cleveland. This creates a do-or-die scenario for the East's #1 seed in just the 2nd game of the series, a scenario we rarely see in the NBA.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been coasting through the 2017 NBA Playoffs.
A one point victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Divisional Round is the only real scare the defending champs have had thus far. Meanwhile the Celtics have had a roller-coaster ride throughout the playoffs. After losing two home games to the Chicago Bulls, they bounced back with four straight wins. A back and forth series with the Washington Wizards saw Boston finally prevail in Game 7.
Now faced with with their most difficult task yet, Boston must rebound and beat the champs.
LeBron James won't make that task easy.
In the playoffs so far, King James has averaged nearly 34.8 points per game, 9 rebounds and 7 assists all while shooting 56% from the field (and 43% from 3!). With most NBA fans and experts handing the NBA Championship to the Golden State Warriors, James has clearly been on a mission to have the final laugh.
Game 2 should not be the blowout that Game 1 was. Boston should be as motivated as they have been all year. Expect this game to be much closer. That being said, I can't pick against Cleveland and LeBron James with the run they have been on. I'm passing on the spread. However, Boston should step up their defense and be better on the boards. I'm taking the under thinking they will make this game more competitive.
Pick: CLE/BOS Under
